I've been trying to plan out a tattoo for awhile now, and I've finally settled on what I want. Unfortunately, I fear it may be too complicated.
I'd like to design a tattoo of my boyfriend's fingerprints to put on my back/hip/side somewhere, but I'm not sure how to make this idea into a tangible design. We've tried scanning his hand, but I'm just not good enough in Photoshop to make it work properly. Nor am I a very good artist.
Do you think this is way too detailed an image to get? I mean, it certainly wouldn't be able to be the tiny size of an actual fingerprint, but I would like to have all 5 fingerprints in a grip pattern somewhere along my side/ribs/back. I've heard the more complicated the design and the closer together the actual lines, the more likely it is to look like mush as time passes. True?
Any suggestions as to how to go about this would be AMAZING. Thanks!
alison.

Well, I've never tattooed someones finger prints before, but I do know that ink spreads a bit over time. But if you were to blow it up really large, then maybe you'd be okay. It may cost you a pretty penny for the detail though.

I have seen it done before, but I couldn't tell from the pic how big it actually was, neither what it would look like a few years down the line. I'm pretty sure the pic was in "A Thousand Tattoos" by Henk Schifmacher (hope that's spelt right). Good luck!

I'd suggest talking to your tattoo artist and letting them work out the design they'll know whats to detailed and what size it'll need to be. If you havn't picked an artist yet then i suggest looking around at shop and talking to them about your idea see what they think. best of luck write and tell us how it went
